Land clearing built around how you plan to use the ground

“Land clearing” means different things to a rancher, a homebuilder, and a hunter. Before we ever start a machine, we ask what the land is for. Pasture wants the brush gone and the grass protected. A homesite wants a clean footprint plus a driveway path and room for the septic. Hunting land wants lanes, openings, and edge cover kept in the right places. We plan the clearing around the answer, not around what is easiest for the equipment.

Clearing methods we use

  • Forestry mulching — our primary method. Brush and small trees are ground in place; no piles, no hauling, and a method that helps minimize ground disturbance. Best for pasture, acreage, habitat, and most residential lots.
  • Selective clearing — remove the cedar, mesquite, and understory while preserving mature oaks, pecans, and the shade you actually want.
  • Brush hogging — for lighter growth: tall grass, weeds, and small saplings that do not need the mulcher.
  • When a project needs more than mulching — Y 5 specializes in mulching-based clearing. If your project also needs stump removal, root raking, grading, or pad building, I’ll tell you that on the walkthrough so you know what’s involved before anything starts.

Questions

Land Clearing FAQ

Do you clear land for new home construction?

Yes. Build-site clearing is one use case for land clearing around Weatherford, Aledo, Springtown, Granbury, and the surrounding area. We clear the footprint, driveway path, and utility routes while keeping the trees you want. Y 5 specializes in mulching-based clearing, so if your plans call for stump removal or pad grading, I’ll tell you that on the walkthrough so you know what’s involved before anything starts.

How long does it take to clear an acre?

As a planning estimate, medium brush on flat ground is roughly a day per acre. Heavy cedar, big mesquite, rocky slopes, or tight access take longer. Use the project planner for a ballpark, and we’ll go over timing and a start date as part of the quote.

Do I need a permit to clear land?

Requirements can vary depending on the property, location, and scope of the project. If you’re unsure, it’s a good idea to check with the appropriate city, county, HOA, or other governing authority before work begins. If I notice something during the walkthrough that may need additional consideration, I’ll make sure we talk about it before the project starts.

Can you clear just part of my property?

Absolutely. A property can also be cleared in phases when that fits the project and budget — the front pasture, the homesite, or the fence lines first, with the rest scheduled later. Every job is quoted as its own fixed price.
